Hi, I have a customer who has upgraded from VCS V1.4 to PCM V1.5. They have directly connected consoles and to prevent spurious logins when VCS was shutdown they set the permanent characteristics to /NOTYPE_AHEAD on the terminal. Then when VCS allocated the terminal it set it back to /TYPE_AHEAD. This does not happen with PCM so the customer has had to set the permanent characteristics to /TYPE_AHEAD. Is there a reason for this or is it an oversight ? Thanks in advance, Geoff Judd.

Is the customer seeing the same problem with PCM that they saw with VCS? This would appear to be an oversight when we ported to OpenVMS from ULTRIX. I have added this to our list of bugs to fix. Can you please escalate this via the CSC so that we can track it and make sure it gets fixed. Cheers, Phil | |||||

The problem is not as severe on PCM because the customer says that PCM will try to allocate the port again if it finds it initially allocated whereas VCS would never allocate the port if it found it allocated by another user during startup. I will formally escalate it as requested. Geoff. |
