323.0. "PCM V1.5 window on VXT2000" by MUNICH::RIEBEL () Thu Jul 28 1994 17:21

4000-90
OpenVMS V6.1
MOTIF V1.2

PCM V1.5

VXT2000 with 15" Colour-Screen and V2.1 VXT-SW.

One of our customers has installed PCM V1.5. Usually he works with a VXT2000.
He has no problems to work with VCS V1.4, the DECWINDOW-Interface and VXT2000.
Now with PCM V1.5 he cannot use "CONSOLE EDIT/INTERFACE=DECWINDOW". The window
comes up, he can select "SYSTEM CREATE", but the "OK" "APPLY" "CANCEL" "HELP"
row in the window is missing. So there is a problem to save the new inputs.
No problem exists on the 4000-90 itself and on a VXT2000 with 19" screen.

Any ideas?

Thanks
Erwin Riebel

Erwin,

My guess would be a problem with font sizes, although the UIL
in the editor code uses attachments and is set up to size
  itself.

Is the VXT using 100 or 75DPI fonts?

Cheers,
Phil

I also have been working with a customer who has a 4000 VLC running
OpenVMS V6.1, Motif V1.2 and PCM V1.5. The same thing as .0 is
happening. The decwindows interface for the CONSOLE EDITOR is missing
the bottom of the create/modify/show system window. There is no
OK, APPLY, CANCEL or HELP button. Is this a motif 1.2 issue? And
what can be done to correct it?

    Thanks,

Nancy,

Same question as before, what monitor size and density (DPI) do they have?
We can then try and reproduce the problem.

Cheers,
Phil

    Phil,

The monitor size is 16" (VRC16-HA) and the DPI is 100.

Nancy,

  I have a VRT16-DA on a VS4000 model 60 running at 100DPI without
  any problems.

  I have a VRC160-D3 on a VS4000-VLC running at 100DPI without
  any problems.

I thought the VRC16-HA was the PC-style Super-VGA monitor as
used on the Jensen and PC's.

Are you sure you are running at 100DPI, have you set it up
  correctly in your DECW$PRIVATE_SERVER_SETUP.COM file?

Cheers,
Phil

Phil,

sorry, but it takes a long time, to get more information from the customer.

The customer uses a VR326 monitor ( 15" display ).
The VXT2000 display scaling was set to 100% ( with the Customize X Server
dialog box ), to get bigger windows.
The customer reduced the scaling to 75% and the problem with PCM disappeared.
Attached you'll find an output from DECW$UTILS:XDPYINFO.EXE with the 75% display
scaling. It was impossible, to get the same output with 100% display scaling.
(The customer doesn't change back to 100% scaling till now)
