303.0. "usage of groups" by GYPSC::WIENER (Adrian Wiener @UFC * DTN 865-1295 * DC * Integration Services * PSC * IST-Networks) Wed Jul 13 1994 12:42

Hi,

can I use the groups for limiting the number of nodes displayed?

I found the place in the documentation, where the creation & modification of
groups is described, but not their usage ? Can I get a pointer to the right
place to look for it ?

Thanks,
Adrian

Adrian,

  Are you talking about limiting the number of nodes displayed
  in the C3? If so, then...

  The C3 only displays those nodes you have been given access
  to in the database, these will include any belonging to groups
  that are assigned to your user record.

  So, the only way to limit the nodes displayed in the C3 is to
  not give a user access to those system you dont want displayed
  either directly by not entering the system against the user entry,
  or, indirectly by not entering the group for which the system is
  a member against the user memory.

  I hope that helps.

Cheers,
Phil

303.2C3 for 177 nodes...GYPSC::WIENERAdrian Wiener @UFC * DTN 865-1295 * DC * Integration Services * Wed Jul 13 1994 16:219
    Thanks,

    it would have been a nice feature to be able to dynamically choose,
    which groups you'd like to see at a given time und switch/add to
    another group when you get some messages...

    How does C3 look like, if 177 nodes have to be managed ?

    We're working on getting groups implemented in the C3 for the next
    release.

re .3:

these are really good news...I need some information about the schedule, we're
going to use it in a customer project we still have to win.
