Hello, I have a customer running Polycenter Console Manager version: V1.0-061 on a Decstation 5000/200 (Ultrix 4.3a). He gets an error when trying to access the console device of a VAX 4500 (vms 5.5-2). The error is repeated: Unable to open console for system BTL - Permission denied Unable to open console for system BTL - Permission denied I have not been about to find out much about this error. What is causing it? How can it be avoided? Any help would be appreciated. Joanne Coffey VAST-AMT CSC, Colorado Springs dtn:592-4231

Joanne, what sort of connection are you using from PCM to the managed host? Permission denied is probably being reflected back from the attempt to open the device which is managing the system. If it is LAT chaeck the things like LAT group codes on PCM host match the server and server port values. Check the port is set up access remote. Check somethin else has not already got a connection open to the port. If it is TELNET again check the access remote. Is the TELNET listener enabled and mapped to the physical port. If still in trouble, export the PCM database and send me a copy along with the terminal server charecteristics. Let me know how you get on. Cheers Simon.... | |||||
