278.0. "Corrupted OSF kit?" by OSL09::BJORNMY (Open but Secure) Wed Jun 08 1994 08:53

On installing PCM I get DCROSFBASE150 corrupt. I also noticed
that the kit is MUCH smaller for OSF than ULTRIX.

Does anyone else have the same problem, or an explanation?

Bjorn,
I just copied the OSF/1 kit from opg::cm$kits: and installed it.
It worked fine!!

Did you copy via DECnet to yuor system?

If so did you dcp -i the file??

The reason the file is smalller is that ALL OSF/! setld kits should be
compressed ( to save space on the ConDist, so the OSF/1 is compressed.
This is not done for ULTRIX.

Try again and let me know if tyou still have problems.

Cheers simon...

FYI, I confirm it worked for me too on OSF/1.

    Bjorn,

The checksum should be as follows:

    NSMAXP.tay.dec.com> sum PCM_V15_OSF.TARZ
    45686 4150 PCM_V15_OSF.TARZ

Also, if by chance you used ftp somewhere along the line, you should have
    set the mode to binary.

278.4Register PAK FIRST!OSL09::BJORNMYOpen but SecureThu Jun 09 1994 10:004
I found that if the PAK's were registered before installation it worked
    OK.
