224.0. "PCM for Philips P9070" by ANNECY::LEMMA () Tue Mar 29 1994 17:13

    Hi,

    Is it possible to have PCM manage the Philips P9070 system (this is a
    Unix System V release 3.6)? I understand that this should be possible
    if the Philips system console is a RS232 Xon/Xoff ASCII interface on
    Telnet.
    Does anybody know if this is true for the P9070?

    Is there any agent software to be executed in the Philips system to
    allow this? I think that no special software is required. I am just looking
    for a confirmation on this.

    thanks for the help and best regards,

    Angelo

    Angelo,

        I cannot comment on whether or not the Philips system is manageable
    by PCM. However, if you can get your hands on a VT100 terminal (or any
    other DEC terminal), hook it up to the console port and give it a
    whirl. It it works with the terminal, chances are that it will work with
    PCM.

224.2If so, nothing to do?ANNECY::LEMMAWed Mar 30 1994 09:006
    Dave,
    thanks for the suggestion. I will try to do so.
    If it works with a VT100, will it work with PCM **without specific
    software development**? either at the Philips side or at the PCM side?

    Angelo,
           that's right. PCM does NOT have a client as such. It's aim is to
    replace the RS232 console device, so we just plug in instead and
    read,scan and log whatever comes down the line.

    Cheers SImon....
