have a customer with a Spark10 that during boot the bootup process goes from legable for first 15 or so lines to non-legable and then he gets a legable login prompt. Someone suggested that Spark10 changes either baudrate or charecter size twice durring bootup. Any clues as to why this happens under polycenter console manager, and how to make it print legable script through out the bootup?

220.1 | Maybe the SPARCclassic is like the "10"? | 54697::han | Questions raise the doubt | Tue Mar 22 1994 06:08 | 14 |
Just this weekend I hooked up a console terminal to a SPARCclassic (running SunOS 4.1.3). When the system boots the console it is receiving stuff at 9600,8,n,1 (this is the setting of some environment variable for ttya (and ttyb)). When the start up comes to the twisted pair ethernet it switches to 9600 7 bit bits space parity (You can still see the "le0:" text printed, but the "Twisted pair ethernet" text that is supposed to follow it is all screwed up). The vt320 works fine with 9600, 7 bits space parity. I expect to try this with Solaris 2.2 later today (or at least this week)... | |||||

Well the solution seems to be, Ultrix V4.3a. Engineering says the drivers are better than in V4.3 . Their test was with PCM 1.1FT but it worked with Ultrix V4.3a. |
