202.3 | Is this not rather dangerous | OPG::SIMON | | Wed Mar 16 1994 12:47 | 13 |
| Hi,
is this not rather dangerous??
Given the modem number of the device attached to the Telematic could you not
dial it from any phone in the world then get access to one/all of the consoles
of the managed systems??
Given that you still may want to do this you may be able to set something up
using the psuedoterminal interface.
UNIX tip is quite good for this sort of thing and could be called in a script.
Cheers SImon...

202.4 | Why use CM anyway? | LISVAX::FOLGADO | Paulo Folgado @XIP | Thu Mar 17 1994 17:09 | 8 |
| Hi,
As your question relates to a situation I am currently addressing, please let me
know: if you are not going to use the "trap" functionality, why use CM anyway?
Couldn't you do just the same thing using only a dumb terminal, at the central
site, from which you would dial into the required remote system when necessary?

We came to that conclusion. We are not using it
in our proposal.
