192.0. "Archive Option exits user ?" by SMAC10::BARKER_E (Ummm...) Tue Feb 22 1994 13:32

    Hi,

    	I'm hitting a problem with Console manager on an ULTRIX system.
    When taking the Archive option from the main cm screen cm exits all
    interfaces. This only happens for a user I've configured that has
    Archive privilege and all others excepting Configure. It doesn't happen
    consistently. Once I start up cm again I can get into the Archive
    option without any problem.

    	Is this a known problem ?

192.1Do you mena the C3?ZENDIA::DBIGELOWInnovate, Integrate, EvaporateTue Feb 22 1994 15:3411
    Euan,

        Do you mean the graphical interface crashes or do you mean that
    the main daemon process dies, taking down all connected users?

    If you mean the C3 graphical interface suddenly dies, then this is a
    bug. the C3 interface should never die regardless of what else happens.
    To do the archive, the C3 just spawns a child process which issues the
    archive command.

192.2GUI dies...SMAC10::BARKER_EUmmm...Thu Feb 24 1994 14:5210
    Dave,

    	the Graphical interface dies, so I guess this is a bug. as I said,
    it's intermittent and only happens to a non-root user we've set up.
    Sounds as though I'd better log this officially, any ideas what else I
    can do ?

    	Thanks,

    Logging a qar will assure that the problem gets looked at. Please be as
    specific as possible about providing any info you can to help us debug
    this problem, such as which options you specified in the archive
    window.
