181.0. "A Central Console for UNISYS and IBM ?" by ZENA::ASTRUA () Wed Feb 09 1994 08:06

    Hi,
I have to build a Console solution for:

    	4 Unisys system:

    		1 (2 Console) UNISYS 2200/624
    		1 UNISYS 1100/91II
    		1 UNISYS 1100/91

    	1 IBM 9121 (MVS)

    	1 Tandem System

I belive that the only solution for UNISYS is a Telnet connection,
but I don't know any solution for IBM system.

    	Can Somebody help me ?

Thank you in advance and Ciao. Filippo.

Hi,

Can you give us some more info...

What type of consoles are they, (block mode, character cell)?

How do the console devices communicate with the host system (RS232, COAX)?

Are the systems on the same LAN, or are they spread accross a WAN?

If the systems are on a WAN, what is the Network protocol (DECnet, TCP)?

Cheers,
Phil

The UNISYS and IBM are connect using DCP (a UNISYS COMM. FEP) able to
connect standard SYNC UNISYS Connection, SNA BSC, SNA HDLC, X.25.

    NO LAN connection is available.

UNISYS Console is a BLOCK mode terminale connected in SYNC mode.

I am investicating about the possibility to use X.25 TCP/IP.

The IBM Console is the STANDARD Channel Attached IBM Console.

Thank you again and Ciao. Filippo
