176.0. "Clearing/acknowledging events in the Eventlist" by ANNECY::CHALAND (Michel CHALAND @AEO) Thu Jan 27 1994 07:59

Hi,

I have two questions concerning the acknowledge & clear features of the
	Eventlist :

1 - According to the documentation, when CLEAR is selected, the same event
is resent to the associated actions routines with a CLEAR priority.
However the color of the associated icon on the C3 map is not
	    affected by this CLEAR operation.
		- Is this a normal behaviour ?
		- Is there a way to automatically, reset the C3 icon to the
CLEAR color when all the events display in the EventList window
		  have been cleared ?

2 - The "General Setting" menu accessed from the "Options" popup, let the
	    possibility to use
		. the default ack/clear string
. or to define an other ack/clear string

What these strings are used for ?
What are the default ack and clear string ?

Thanks for your help,

Cheers,

_Michel_

  Yes.

No, the eventlist and C3 are completely different entities, what one does
in no way affects the other, in a future release will want to couple these
together a little more tightly, but for now, what you see is what you get.

When you acknowledge or clear, if you are running the eventlist interactively,
by default, your user name is sent as an acknowledge string its your display
name if you are running as an action routine, so these options allow you to
change the default to say your full name, badge number or something else. In
order to see who has acknowledged or cleared an event, from the general
options dialog, de-select "Acknowledge Removes Event" and Clear Removes
Event" then from the Startup dialog, select the "Acknowledged by" and
"Cleared by" buttons, save your settings and restart the eventlist. This will,
eventually, make it to the manual.

Cheers,
Phil
