Other notes have been posted concerning IBM connectivity but no one has posted -- questions on AS400. Has anyone connected an IBM/AS400 console line to CM? Does anyone know of a black box type device that can provide connection/communication to a 5250 device? Thanks, Jim Kinsley

Jim, There is a customer, Chemical Bank in New York, who have connected an AS/440 up to VCS, it uses a black box to convert the info from the AS/400 into ASCII/RS232 and is then plugged into a Terminal Server. As Console Manager also works using T/S, then this should work. If you contact Craig Saint-Amour @NYO, he is the account salesman, he will be able to find out what that black box is. When you find out, please post the info back here. Martin | |||||

Dennis, thanks for the information on the Andrews box. I will follow up with the vendor to get more information. The opportunity is to provide centralized command control for 16 VAXs, 16 AS/400s and about the same number of Novell fileservers. jk |
