117.1 | Imported CONSOLE$TEMPLATES:CONSOLE$CONFIG.PORT manually | VELI::KORKKO | General nuisance... | Thu Nov 11 1993 19:51 | 17 |
| Well, I extracted kitinstal and found out it is failing with command
CONSOLE EDIT/INTERFACE=CHARACTER_CELL IMPORT
CONSOLE$TEMPLATES:CONSOLE$CONFIG.PORT
Copyright (C) 1992,1993 Digital Equipment Corporation. All Rights Reserved
: no such file or directory
Then I invoked the motif interface of CONSOLE EDIT and imported that .PORT file
manually. Now I have to add the systems I think.

117.2 | system account? | ZENDIA::DBIGELOW | Innovate, Integrate, Evaporate | Thu Nov 11 1993 22:03 | 13 |
| I also had this problem and reported to the the team. The answer I got
was that you have to be logged in as 'system' to do the install. I
personally don't think it should be done this way; no other DEC product
does. Apparently, the check was not put in the installation kit
advising you of such. However, I logged in as 'system' and retried the
install, but was still denied a valid configuration file. I finally
ended up importing an ascii version of the data file from an Ultrix
system. Perhaps Simon can make available an exported ascii version
of the data file for you to import.

117.3 | I shall look in to this one again. | OPG::SIMON | | Fri Nov 12 1993 08:46 | 17 |
| Veli and Dave,
thanks for the input. sorry you had problems this early on. I
thought we had fixed the problem of the import on the command line.
You were actually seeing two different things:
1) : no such file or directory message is not in itself a problem as we are
firing up the editor without a database available in order to create the
template database.
2) The failure to actualy import the database itself. We did have this before,
and at one point it was fixed, but it looks like it has broken again. I shall
get the guys to look at this.
thanks for the report,
Cheers Simon....
