107.0. "VCS - OFFLINE event" by COLES1::WERNER () Fri Oct 29 1993 11:49

What could be the reason to get the event "OFFLINE" without having
disabled the node. This event happened in the night and there was
no interactive user. After this event the customer could connect to
the console, but he could not get event messages. After a reboot
of the cluster console system it works again.

The customer is waiting for an explanation !!

VMS V5.5-2, VCS v1.4
the console connection is host initiated

Please give me a hint?

Thanks
Hans

Hi,
this is a VCS specific question. Please ask in the VCS conference as this is
not relevant to POLYCENTER Console Mgr. You will get in touch with the right
people in the other conference.

Sounds like the network connection was lost. VCS is supposed to try to
reconnect every 30 seconds or so. Apparently it could not re-establish
the link. For some sort of evidence, you could look in the various
VCS output log files in sys$manager. They take the format
VCS$*output.log. Try looking in VCS$iodl_output.log first.
