Unless there is someone else who already tested it, you will have to investigate
the problem of redirecting the console to a RS232 port.
How to best make all the tests ? Simply take a vt100/vt240/vt... and plug it on
the machines you want to test. If you succeed to have the console on it, you
will be able to use CM without any problems. If not, problems begin ...
If the machines are systems (that is no graphical screen), there should be no
problem ...except that you will have to be sure that the terminal emulation they
use is supported by Digital, or that there is another Digital terminal emulation
that may be used (you may have some problems with special console keyboards
sending special character sequences that you will have also to be able to
emulate).
If the machines are workstations (that is they have a graphical screen), you
will have to find out if it is possible to redirect the console to a RS232 port
while the X display is still in use.
I tested the HP 9000/700 with HP-UX v9.0 and it works. SunOS seems to have
problems. I had a IBM system (RS6000 without graphical screen) and it worked
fine. (see note 99)
Remember there is no client part to CM, Digital is not able to change how
HP/IBM/SUN/... are doing when redirecting the console to a RS232 xon/xoff line.
Hope this helps,
Marc.
