73.0. "ENS crashes, Licensse problem" by VINO::DBIGELOW (Innovate, Integrate, Evaporate) Mon May 03 1993 15:52

    Phil, Simon,

There were a couple of problems reported from the field this
morning. I decided to put these here for future reference.

    1. The customer's license expired over the weekend. As a result of
this, the system disk became full, due to some type of loop filling
up the message file. After putting in the new license, they could not
get CM to start and had to re-install the product. The customer felt
as though this re-installation was the incorrect way to handle
licensing. They also stated that they did not know that the expired
license was not the problem and that it was not intuitivly obvious.
Perhaps some sort of message to the startup terminal would fix this
    problem.

    2. The ENS daemon randomly crashes. This primarily happens when the
same event happens in succession. When this particular event occurs,
they display 9 Multiple line message boxes, bringing the total to 18.
The customer is sending in a core dump.

    Cheers,

    Dave

Dave,

Thanks, the license stuff we should look at for the next release,
the core will be interesting to look at, although I am not too
sure how much useful information it will contain, but, we will
  see.

Can you, or the customer get these problems QAR'd so that we dont
  loose them.

Cheers,
Phil

    Phil,

Yes, I've asked Phil to submit an SPR. The QAR account has probabily
    expired.

    Cheers,

       Dave
