A) Can 'Console Manager' control AIX system by a Terminal Server
connection on Xlan ?
AIX has not itself been tested yet, however if the RS6000 box can
have it's console directed to an Async rs-232 port the CM software will
work as it does not care what is on the other end in the way of operating
system.
B) We have some Olivetti Unix boxes over a X.25 network, can i control
these syetms, too ? (any limits about functionalities or number of
connections?)
If TCPIP is run across the X-25 network a TELNET TS could be placed at
the remote site and CM will work. Basically if we can open a TELNET
connection across the network link CM will be able to connect.
C) Is console manager EMA compliant ? and
Is Console Manager integrated, at some degree, with DECmcc ?
Not Yet. However, there are plans in the pipeline to provide
integration with DECmcc, but this will be in a future version.
Please add weight to this requirement if it is important to
your customer.
D) Plans to port on OSF/1 (Time frame and platform Mips, AXP)
Yes OSF/1 MIPS and AXP planned. Timeframes are still unknown, we will be
discussing the release strategy in the nex few weeks. ( Off the record
mch of the version 1 functionality has already been ported to both MIPS
and AXP Alpha, but has not been tested). If the release of these platforms
is time critical to you please let us know as it will lend weight to
how to prioritise work.
Cheers Simon....

It is good to know that the RS6000 of IBM doesn't have any boot promt !
So be careful when you propose CM to manage such kinds of workstation ...
if the machine halts, the only way to startup it again is power off
power on ...
