Subj: fwd: "findpool" has been updated to avoid errors
Dave, I saw your recent inquiry about findpool. It used to have a more
relaxed syntax, but this sometimes led people to errors, and so it's been
made more strict, at the request of the useg release eng team. I sent
this mail about it before Thanksgiving...

Digital UNIX developers who use the 'findpool' command for support pool
analysis,
At the request of the Digital UNIX support engineering & support release
engineering teams, we have recently updated the "findpool" command to only
allow exact filename matches. In its previous form, if an incomplete
filename were entered, the command would often provide misleading results.
The command help and reng.zk3.dec.com web-page now state:
Note: Filenames must be dot-relative from src,
i.e. of the form: ./full/path/to/file
For users who took advantage of the "loose matching" capability:
If you need to find out what files exist in any pool, given only a partial
pathname, please do a search for the required strings on the Logs/SNAPSHOT
file of any pool or backingtree.
Thank you. -digital unix release engineering
