2682.0. "findpool has been updated to avoid errors" by AOSG::FILTER (Automatic Posting Software - mail to flume::puck) Mon Nov 18 1996 17:48

Subj: findpool has been updated to avoid errors

As per suggestions by Sergei and Kathy,

The findpool command has now been updated, as has its online help
(findpool -h), and the directions provided in the rengweb web page,
	http://reng.zk3.dec.com/rengweb ... "findpool Query"
(you may need to click on 'reload' in your browser to see the update).

The help now includes this note:

Note: Filenames must be dot-relative from src,
	i.e. of the form: ./full/path/to/file

The output's also been formatted a litte better.

The new findpool will only accept full paths, dot-relative from the src
directory. Before you could "get away with" any part of the path (missing
the beginning and/or the end), and it would return something, possibly
misleading users in some cases, showing more hits than it should.

You may want to inform the support engineering community about this change.

For example, all of the following 5 filename arguments would have matched
something in the old findpool, however now only 1 filename is valid (this
example was run with a restricted pool list just for testing):

% findpool -f Makefile cpu.h ./Makefil ./usr/bin/Makefile ./usr

./findpool: Makefile: invalid source file path

./findpool: cpu.h: invalid source file path

./findpool: ./Makefil: not found in any of the searched backingtrees

./findpool: ./usr: not found in any of the searched backingtrees

Pool Name Filename
--------- --------
v40supportos ./usr/bin/Makefile

Enjoy...
