Subj: Please add this to your FAQ on building libraries
Recall I sent a query a few days to buildhelp on how to build one
module in libc without having to recompile everything.
No one in buildhelp knew the answer.
Someone from the compiler group decided to answer the QAR
I entered on this issue.
The answer is simple: using libc as an example,
in order to not have to recompile everything all you need to do
is to make sure that libc.a exists as a file (not link)
in your sandbox object tree. One way to do this is to do
"mklinks -copy ." in the object directory for libc.
It is essential that you copy the files and don't just do symlinks.
I've never needed to use the -copy switch before,
but when building libraries it is essential for efficient building.
Regards,
sergei
