Grant et al,

Did anyone manually remove the ,machdep.c, file from within the RCS
pool to make this file no longer busy? If not then it was just a
normal occurrence and it cleaned itself up, but I'd like to know which
it was.

It could have been busy when buffer crashed the other day, in which
case the "," file (used for internal rcs locking) would have had to
have been removed, and if so then there could be cause to investigate
possible file corruption. The file seems to behave ok now.

This file was indeed "in use" by another process or tool at the instant
you tried the bco. If you've haven't done it yet, you certainly can now.

During this morning problem's with buffer, I attepted to kill a bcs -o -u
process (vs aborting it). I am backed to ptbos.bl3

Now I'm having problems when I try to check out the file in another sandbox:

% bco machdep.c

[ ./kernel/arch/alpha/machdep.c ]
stat error: RCS file ./kernel/arch/alpha/machdep.c,v is in use
stat error: RCS file ./kernel/arch/alpha/machdep.c,v is in use
[ specified revision not found in the history revision ]

Any ideas what's wrong?
