OK, I re-ran ode install again, and this time I specified a tools
server:
Enter nodename for ode tools server, or NONE [NONE]: kgb
Before, I had kept the default of 'NONE' because I have /usr/sde
mounted in my /etc/fstab file. Apparently, specifying a valid tools
server here is important even if you already have /usr/sde mounted, it
must be used for some other purpose as well. Thank you all for your
help on this!
Steve
