It isn't enough to change the config file
You have to change both kernel/Makefile and the config file
so that
CDEBUGOPT=-g
in the Makefile it is set to
CDEBUGOPT=
in the config file it is
CDEBUGOPT=-g3 (optimized)
also, to play it safe I changed it in both config files (kernel/conf
and obj/alpha/kernel/BINARY, but I'm not sure if that was necessary.
