Jeanne, who are you writing to, me or John? You sent to John but said
"Josh"; Well I guess it doesn't really matter.
Yes I think an FAQ is a good idea, and there are a few things that
each inadequately fit the bill. Under our web page,
http://nsa.zk3.dec.com/rengweb
we have an ode help section, but it certainly doesn't get added to
frequently enough to really be a FAQ.
DECWET::ODE is a notes conference which never really was much more than
a limited support center, and may not even be open access.
Also, there's a notes conference on smurf:: (?ode?) which sucks up all
the odehelp mail - kind of overwhelming.
The ode documentation (also accessible under our web page, or through
http://www.zso.dec.com/ode/ODE-Docs.html
http://www.zk3.dec.com/ode/ODE-Docs.html
http://www.unx.dec.com/ode/ODE-Docs.html
http://www.?others?.dec.com/ode/ODE-Docs.html
is hyper-linked, and so may be searchable for keywords and such.

Hi Josh,
It seems to me that odeman should provide a FAQ man page
since we developers and test developers depend so much
on ODE. If I had dug around through the man pages long
enough I could have figured this out, but, I would have
read a FAQ on ODE long ago (honestly -), if there was one
and would not have had to bother you. All in all, it took
a couple of hours to solve my problem - locate the right
person to ask, write a message, wait for the reply. It
seems to me that a lot of people just starting on ODE have
the same questions and some people hesitate to use it
because of horror stories about solving these types of
simple problems.
What do you think? Do you think it would be a good
idea to have an ODE FAQ? Does an ODE FAQ already exist
somewhere? Should I file a QAR against ODE to get a
FAQ?
