2035.0. "Kerberos problems??" by AOSG::FILTER (Automatic Posting Software - mail to flume::puck) Mon Jan 08 1996 14:36

Subj: 	Kerberos problems??

Even though I issue a successful kinit command, my workon session thinks I did
not issue it.

fwasted 7% kinit $PRINCIPAL
Kerberos Initialization for "Vikas_Sontakke"
Password:
fwasted 8% workon -sb hw56
cd'ing to sandbox source directory: /home/sontakke/sb/hw56/src.
starting new shell: /bin/csh.
To access your ODE server you must:

        o kinit $PRINCIPAL (then input your kerberos password)

        o Enter workon -sb sandbox name or default.

Please obtain kerberos ticket and try again.

NOTE: You are in your sandbox.

   o This sandbox can only be used for ODE services which don't
   require the ODE server (i.e. build, mklinks, etc. ).
   To avoid this message use the no kerberos switch:

          workon -nk -sb sandbox name
workon_fwasted 1%

Sounds like a setup problem, time sync, krb.conf wrong etc. Try kinit -d and
see what you get back.

Actually, the problem on wasted/fwasted has to do with admin renaming
the machine to the FDDI-name (fwasted) rather than the normal name;
your ticket gets issued to you on fwasted but then our ode servers
try to authenticate you on wasted and you don't have a ticket that's
valid there for that hostname.

Anyway, admin (Mark Glidden) has corrected the problem, so you should
be all set on wasted ONCE YOU DO A NEW 'kinit'.

A similar problem existed on alpha, flume and quarry as well; Mark is
fixing them all.
