Subj: Re: setting up submit server
ODE,
Can you help Steve set up his system as a submit server? He'd like to start
hosting an LSM shared sandbox for development. I pointed him at all the latest
documentation for doing this, but he's run into some errors that he
can't get past.
Thanks,
John
Steve,
Try rebooting your system to see if that clears things up. Also, Josh just
told me that you don't need to run Kerberos install.

I am trying to setup my workstation as a submit server so that I can setup
a shared sandbox for the LSM group. The steps I have followed are:
1. Request a srvtab file from admin and put in lsmtemp:/etc.
2. Run '/usr/sde/ode3.0/install/Kerberos install' to setup a kerberos
client.
3. Run '/usr/sde/ode3.0/install/ode install' to setup an ode server.
Step 3 fails for me.
4. Setup up a par file and run mksharedsb.
The output for step 3 is:
======================================================================
root: /sbin/init.d/ode3.0 install
Specify your installation type;
Select none to de-install DECode II 3.0.
Select server only for release engineering systems and machines
serving shared sandboxes. Select client for all others.
Enter type of installation, either none, server, or client [client]: server
Which DECode II server installation do you want to do:
1 basic - bring up ode_server and supfilesrv daemons
2 advanced - advanced mode is reserved for experienced
administrators to:
(a) choose which daemons to bring up
(b) set up the ode_server with metric logging
Enter either 1 or 2 [1]: 1
Specify your unqualified nodename for the ode tools server;
this will be the system that /usr/sde is mounted from, or NONE if
/usr/sde is not to be mounted by the /sbin/init.d/ode3.0 script.
Enter nodename for ode tools server, or NONE [NONE]: alpha
Specify how you want current project pools to be mounted at startup;
an answer of yes will cause current project pools to be mounted at startup.
Do you want an odemount done at startup?
Enter yes or no [yes]:
The odemount command accepts -all, or an uppercase space separated
list of pools.
The following pools are available:
...
Enter the pools you want mounted [-all] :ptos ptos.nightly ptos.bl8
/sbin/init.d/ode3.0 start
starting ode_server3.0
ODE_SERVER: ERROR-> binding port socket.
Bind: Address already in use
starting supfilesrv3.0
root: ps aux | grep -Ei 'ode|sup|kxct'
root 15640 0.0 0.0 512K 40K ?? I 13:18:56 0:00.00
/usr/sbin/supfilesrv3.0
root 15576 0.0 0.2 1.33M 168K ttyp1 S + 13:25:18 0:00.01 grep
-Ei ode|sup|kxct
======================================================================
Any help would be appreciated.
