hi josh,
we're not exactly sure what would cause that error message.
it seems to be benign.
what are the conditions in the environment when this error comes up?
does it happen for a submit of 1 file? or is it with just large
number of files?
is it easily reproducible?
one thing that can be done is to start the ode_server from a terminal
window with the -d and watch what errors the server gets, if any,
whent the ODE CLIENT error pops up.

Jo, I have never seen this myself; it was reported by two users, one with
a 105 file submit from UNX->ZK3, the other I can't tell; it was from a
bci log which I found the user then submitted as part of a 132-file submit
from ZK3->ZK3. I've asked him for more details. His mail is attached.

p.s. I see you have a new help_ode address; how does this compare with
use of 'ode'? Should 'odehelp' include help_ode now instead of ode?

Josh,
I don't know if you care about this or not...
[ ./usr/sbin/dhcp/dccapdbc/hashfns.c ]
[ scanning for HISTORY messages ]
[ using default log message ]
* August 17th update from C-A
ODE CLIENT ERROR: Failed call to: read() while reading server status.
Read more or less bytes than expected. 1 bytes.
things appear to have worked ok, as far as I can tell, so maybe
it's just a warning type of message.
