Subj: new submit log mail format - feedback?
Project Leaders et al,
In response to a suggestion from one of the support pool admins, I've
made the subject line of submit mail reflect all of the unique defect
numbers represented in the submits that were mailed in that batch.
I haven't yet submitted this new version of the tool (bsubmit_mail.sh),
but I would like to do it soon. If you have any feedback please speak up.
For example, the attached submits from the v32supportos pool would have
had a subject line, currently, of:
Subject: V32SUPPORTOS submits for Tue Jun 20 16:53:47 EDT 1995
and now from my test version of the tool, the subject line is (wrapped):
Subject: V32SUPPORTOS submits 06/20/95 16:53 v32supportos-116-spinney v32supportos-117-spinney v32supportos-118-tmark v32supportos-120-kinstler
I could also consider cutting out the <pool>- portion of each defect number,
to save space, ie:
Subject: V32SUPPORTOS submits 06/20/95 16:53 116-spinney 117-spinney 118-tmark 120-kinstler
Comments? I tried to leave the subject line somewhat unchanged for any
mail parsers people may have, but I wanted to make it shorter to add
all the defect numbers. I could put back in the word "for" and/or
punctuation of some sort after the time, if it helps readability and/or
compatibility.
Note that normally only one or two defect numbers would appear in each
submit log (which is mailed every 15 minutes currently). The case I
have below is contrived (spanning a full day in a support pool).
