For starters check that the kxct.conf file in the submit tree's ./src and ./log
directory point to the correct architecture type in your project's global
config files.

I had checked this previously, in both /src and /logs kxct.conf are symlinks
to the same file as is pointed to by working submit trees.

No, it needs to match the machine type that the submit tree sits on. If that's
mips Ultrix, then that would be correct, if in fact that's where the file is.
Our submit trees look like this:
src/kxct.conf@ -> /usr/sde/alpha/config/kxct.conf.src.alpha_OSF1
The src.extention would change depending on the machine type.
How did you create this tree, by hand, or with a tool like mksharedsb or
mkback?
Also make sure you have the files;
src/.cmd_prefix
src/.temp_prefix
Which should either be links to a known good version or should have a content
like:
cardinal ptos/src [30] cat .temp_prefix
./.srctemp
cardinal hw4os/src [33] cat .cmd_prefix
/usr/sde/ode2.0/tools/alpha_OSF1/bin # change the alpha_OSF1 to suit.
Also make sure that the logs directory and the files in it are owned and
writeable by devbld.
If this doesn't help, perhaps you can contact DecWest directly (decwet::ode).

Thanks for the help, I guess I had already done the obvious things to make
sure were created correctly.
I was under the impression that [email protected] included decwest? Should
I be requesting help from decwet::ode instead of odehelp or should I be sending
requests to both places?

Yes odehelp does include decwest, but lately responses from there only seem to
come back when addressed directly.

Martin, there are two sets of files in the common config directory
that you had links two. One with "logs" in the name, the other
with "src" in the name. These are for the two types of kxct.conf
files.
This must be the source of your problem. Just copy the right ones
into your pool.
I don't know what you meant by most recent and new "thread". Sounds
like the pool was incorrectly setup by hand rather than by mksharedsb
or mksubmit.

Oops! I stand corrected. src/kxct.conf and logs/kxct.conf do point to different
files. I was not careful when I last checked it.
What I do know is that my new submit tree and a working submit tree have the same
links, so it does not look to be a problem with the actuall kxct.conf file.
I believe that there isn't a problem with the kxct.conf file. So the questions
is what other type of problems can cause this error message to display?
How many people work in the ode group at decwest? Do you know of some reason
why they wouldn't be responding?
