The way "command line syntax" works is to name a file as an argument
to act as the coll.list+dir+host all in one. If you look at the
sde_tools entry in /usr/sde/lib/supfiles/coll.list, you'll see it
also has the host name. We normally already had the basename, and
so those entries can be used without the "real" coll.* files, by
putting it in another file (any file name and path is fine).
In the 'sup' command line, the 's' switch means to use the system
coll.* files. If 's' isn't used, it assumes the first argument
after the switches is the on-the-fly coll.list type file (remember
it doesn't have to be called that).
I know of no way to put everything on the command line, but you
could create the coll.list-type file on the fly if you needed
to (the backingtree command does this).

does anyone remember the command line syntax for sup?
I'm looking to make an area available for supping, without
using the coll.* files.
thanks for any help.
