ODE RCS Server - Buffer - Will Be Down Tuesday PM (11/22) & Wednesday
Morning (11/23) For System Upgrade to OSF!
================================================================================

Buffer will be down Wednesday morning (11/23) in order to upgrade
it to a Flamingo 2 running OSF V3.0. Not only does this complete the
migration of our source environments to OSF, but it comes at a time
when we have begun seeing multiple problems (disk problems, system hangs)
with the current hardware. This action will result in a higher level of
stability and continuity for the release environment. It also follows our
commitment to the use of our current software releases.

The pools will be locked Tuesday night (11/22) as soon as the last build
has started.

During the downtime, the RCS pool will be locked for all activity
including read-only activity. Affected commands include:
        - ODE "b" commands (bco, bci, bcs, blog, bdiff, bstat, bsubmit)
        - srequest

Note that this only affects the DEC OSF/1 engineering pools.
QA/QC and Documentation pools will remain unaffected.
Backing trees will still be available for read only activities,
including sandbox builds.

We appreciate your consideration for this important migration effort.

If you have any questions or concerns, send mail to flambe::mazza.

We also have posted our project plan in the following locations:
	- /usr/specs/release_bld/plans/RcsServer.plan
	- web access, by opening the Release Engineering home page,
	  (URL http://nsa.zk3.dec.com/rengweb) and selecting
the Release Engineering Plans and Specs entry.

Regards, Lucinda Mazza
