Cliff, is /var/dss/kerberos/tkt mode 777 or 1777? Also is
/etc/krb.conf readable to world (i.e. mode 644 or 444)?
If either of these is not the case, then root could do kinit
but not you. Check also the modes of all the directories
down to tkt to make sure they're readable/executable (mode 755).
