1043.0. "Problems with bco -u" by SMURF::FILTER (Automatic Posting Software - mail to flume::puck) Wed Nov 02 1994 11:59

Subj: Problems with bco -u
I seem to be having some problems with checking files
out unlocked from the library. I logged in to my account
(ericr) on node tcdenali, got a Kerberos ticket, and began
work on my sandbox that is backed against the goldminos.bl3
backing tree. When I tried to check out a file unlocked, I
got the following message:
% bco -u console.c
[ ./kernel/arch/alpha/hal/console.c ]
co: access denied by ACL
Tom Blinn tried the same operation from his sandbox (backed
against the same tree) on tcdenali and this operation works
fine.
Also, when I log in to tcdenali, my home directory shows
me as being in group staff. When I log in to wasted, my
home directory shows me as being in group guest. I don't
know if this could be related to what's happening with
bco -u, but I should be in group staff on both machines.
/Eric

I appears you do not have permission to perform ODE operations on our
pools. Even to do a "bco -u" operation requires that you have your
Principal Name added to the check-out/check-in ACL list for our source
pools. You need to have your supervisor or sponsor send a request to
the appropriate pool project leader to have your Principal name added
to the cechk-out acl. In this case, that would probably be Joe Kenny
abyss::kenny.
