974.0. "Bsubmit not working" by SMURF::FILTER (Automatic Posting Software - mail to flume::puck) Mon Oct 03 1994 20:47

When I do a bsubmit to my shared sandbox I get the following error.
I just upgraded the shared sandbox server to Ultrix 4.4 and I think
I recovered all the kerberos server stuff correctly, but I'm not
sure. Any suggestions on where to look (and what exactly bsubmit
is trying to tell me)?

Thanks,

 --- pete

Did you restore the /etc/srvtab file? Did you then run /usr/sde/install/ode
install and install as a server?

Yup, got that.

Nope. My host is Ultrix and the ode script seems to be looking for some
OSF/1 files (or files in OSF/1 places). Also, I'm not an ODE server
(I don't want ODE served from my system), just the shared sandbox
administration system.

BTW, how hard would it be to move the shared sandbox to an Alpha
system given that all the files are set up to expect an Ultrix
system? Maybe I would have fewer problems under OSF, but I don't
want to move right now if it's going to be a big pain (I'll wait
until after HW3 goes out the door ;-)

Thanks,

 --- pete

Sorry, Ok then you need to run the Ultrix intall script in the same dir. You
don't have to serve ODE, but you do need to run the kxct daemon if you're
going to take submits.

It'd probably run some things faster with a local usr/sde. It only takes about
50 MB and you don't have to export it, but it's not required, you can still
get it from another server.

It looks like my problem may be the lack of an /etc/srvtab. Where
can I get one of this (they seem to be read only on all the servers).

Thanks,

 --- pete

You'll need to get one from Mark Glidden or somebody else in admin.
Make sure they know it's and ultrix server. After you get it, start
the kxct daemon.
