P.B. (or Nitin which do you prefer?),

As a remote development site there are a number of resources that you
will need to find, some hardware (a fileserver and possibly 6 Gig of
space per concurrent release stream), and some support staffing, for
both occasional administration (setting up to copy new baselevels, for
example), and local ODE help for your developers, if possible.

There is quite a bit of testing that I recommend you do before you go,
including 'sup'ping a pool from ZK3 or UNX to your home site, as well
as setting up the machine you're bringing back. Rich Larsen can provide
you the sup file details that you need for the currently active pools.
Typically, submit pools are sup'd hourly, nightly trees daily, and
baselevel trees just when they're created or updated.

Unless your site is going to host any project submit pools or shared
sandbox submit pools, you won't need to have any ODE server images
running of any kind. You need to contact Dave Snow (decwet::snow), the
ODE (formally DECode-II) development manager, about adding your group
to their ODE distribution and support list.

We would periodically give you 'sup' details on new baselevels or
submit pools, and coordinate with you so you know the hours of the
builds, when the pools are locked, etc.

Your group should be on the usg osf_developers mail alias.

I'd be happy to discuss this with you further.

You can start looking at a lot of ODE help and status information through
the World Wide Web (Mosaic) at URL: " http://nsa.zk3.dec.com/rengweb ".

Hello,

I am from Digital India, currently located at UNX, Manalapan.

As you must be aware, I am here to transition the maintenance of a
subset of OSF/1 commands to India.

I currently have a OSF/1 host (deil.unx.dec.com) which will go back
to India with me (and will become deil.bbi.dec.com).

Since after transition, deil will serve as ODE client (off server
secret.zk3.dec.com), I intend to start the process right now so
that problems, if any, can be resolved now. (Remember, after
transition, any problem-solution will have a turn-around time of 1
	day, due to timezone difference.)

Hence, I propose that we set up deil.unx.dec.com as a ODE client
and I will do sup everyday. This will give me a hands on experience
	to manage ODE client.

Also, since only a small subset of the OSF/1 pools is needed to be
accessed by the team in India, I would like to know if there is any
way by which sup can be done only on a selected subset of files ??
This will conserve the network bandwidth.

Awaiting an early reply from you.

	Thanks.

Rgds
