for lot's of things, but definitely not this.  This has to be an environment
problem, since it clearly builds OK in nightly, so the compiler tools and
the code in the pool are OK. Can't verify what's in his sandbox or if it
started out clean etc.

This may be a QAR against cc, ld, the ZK3 production 
environment or ODE, I'm
not sure.  Entered as a showstopper since it prevents me 
from doing my
goldminor bl2 submit work.

I cannot link shared libraries from my goldminor-backed 
sandbox.  When
I attempt to do so, I get: 

ftruncate failed: I/O error
/usr/sde/osf1/build/goldminos/tools/alpha_OSF1/alpha/acc
/ld:
make_outbuf: cannot ftrucate
*** Exit 1
Stop.

The object tree is writeable.  All the .o files that 
comprise the .so are
successfully created.  There seems to be adequate disk 
space on 
/tmp_mnt/abelia/home/keane.

All this works when backed against goldos, just not 
goldminos.

If I compile all the c files backed against goldminos, 
then resb to
goldos and do the ld, it appears to work!

Hey, sorry about that QAR assignment...I put ODE *third* on
my list of suspects in the QAR text, but that apparently
wasn't enough to ward off the QAR assignment...  ODE's problem
is that those capital letters stand out too much in the text - 
next time I'll call it "ode" ;^)

Anyway, I *think* Jim McHale might be looking at this already.
Randy Lowell suggested I send him some info, and I did.
