one more thing -
the way you specify "some other directory" is by setting the VPATH
variable. you can look at an example in src/kernel/include/Makefile.
> a.c: ${some_other_directory}/a.c
make automatically looks for any source file it knows about both in the
current directory, and along VPATH (first in your sandbox, then in
the backingtree(s) ).
