Subj: kerberos problem on alpha
Hello Paul,
I'm trying to run kerberos from an alpha machine (glop.pa.dec.com)
but I'm getting this error message when I try it:
37 glop> kinit -v
Kerberos Initialization
Kerberos name: Steve_Schneider
Password:
Kerberos realm ZONE:
Generic error (get_intkt)
As you know, we normally run all our ode-related programs from the
ultrix node "monterio.pa.dec.com". However, we've decided that it
would be nice to be able to run on alpha to facilitate actually working
within the pool rather than importing all the work later.
Anyhow, the steps I'm taking to create an ODE environment have been
going like this:
- exported /usr/sde from monterio to glop
- exported pools (/usr/qcsde &c) to glop
- created ode_fstab file that all clients can share. This file lives
on monterio's /usr/sde disk, but would probably not be suitable for
use by monterio. Is there a problem with this?
- odemounted pool directories on glop.
- created a sandbox on glop
- performed a workon and mklinks &c on glop.
- copied /etc/krb.conf from monterio to glop
So, it seems that my only real problem at this point is with kerberos.
If there's something that I'm doing incorrectly with respect to setting
ODE up on local "client" nodes, please let me know.
If there's a debug version of kinit available, I'd be happy to use it.
The only steps that I've taken to try to correct the kinit problem are:
- copied /etc/krb.conf from monterio to glop
- used ntp to set local system time.
Thanks very much,
--steve
