Status: RO Hi Josh, Who do I ask for help with a Gold BL8 build problem? I'm in a sandobx backed to BL8 and on an alpha machine running BL8. When i give a build command with no arguments, I get a bunch of error message like this: tar cf - pmap_rmt.h | (cd /projects/ode/sandboxes/jd/glimmer_BL8/export/alpha/u sr/include/rpc/; tar xf -) getproplist: Operation not supported on socket and then finally, this: Make: Don't know how to make inline_lock.h. Stop. *** Exit 1 Stop. What's going on? What other magic do I need? I read the 7/21/92 "Pool-rules-ODE" documentation and found it no help. I tried the various build command parameters suggested and got "Don't know how to make *insert your favorite target here*" error messages. That's why I tried build with no arguments. The problem you're having is a result of a message stating that there is no property list support on a socket. Even though tar correctly copies the file, it returns an error. The message (and error) have been disabled in Gold BL8 (Rev 211.2) thus fixing the problem. You may be able to work around this problem by replacing whatever "tar" is bing used by /usr/opt/sterling/sbin/tar. This is the old version of tar that knows nothing of property lists.
