Deepak, you need to have the environment variable USER defined; usually
in shell setups (.profile or .login/.cshrc) it's defined for you, but
it seems you don't have it defined. Check this; do "printenv USER".
If it's not defined (and it needs to be an environment variable, not a
local 'set' variable), set it:
	setenv USER dxk

Also make sure the submit tree, not only the nightly backing is mounted,
i.e.:
	# odemount goldos

If you have any mount issues check with Rich Larsen (rll@unx) or other
local admins.

Dear Mr. Friedman,
I have mounted odie and confirmed with the mount command:

odie:/usr/sde/osf1/build/goldos.nightly on /mnt1 type nfs (rw, hard, intr)

but I think ode does not recognize me. I am in root and my machine is Jay
I'm wondering if that might not be the root of the problem. I can bci and
bco no problem but I cannot srequest or bsubmit. Here is the exact message:

 # srequest

This submit request will be logged against release 'gold'

Is this correct ? [y]:

ERROR: No USER defined, who are you ?
Once you become a USER you can
       use srequest, sorry.

Exiting .....
# pwd
/sandboxes/as1/src/isl

Thanks,

Deepak Kakadia
