What can you see via /usr/sde/osf1/build/...?

You should be able to get a current record of the locations of
the various trees by looking at /usr/sde/disks/odefstab.  If you
do "showmount -e <hostname>", you should be able to see if one
of the hosts is declining to export to you, but most of the
trees appear to be exported to Everyone.

The preferred method of acquiring the backing trees in a remote site is using the ODE tool "sup". /sb
