Hi,

I'm a new ODE user with a newly setup workstation
as an ODE Client. I'm having problems with very
basic ODE commands like 'mksb -list.' The problem
appears to be related to 'getwd' (get working
directory) and appears to be related to starting
up multiple DECterm windows. I've been able to
create a sandbox and use other commands until a
second DECterm is started. Here is a sample of
the messages - at first 'mksb -list' works fine,
then I start a second DECterm and errors. Thanks
for any help.

It sounds like you have a general system resource problem. If you
get, as you said
"the error message 'getwd: getwd: read error in ..'
	when another DECterm starts"
there is more going on than just problems with ode. I would check with
the filesystem group to see if they can help identify the problem:
Charlie Briggs (cb), Paul Shaugnessy (prs) are two people from that group
who may be able to help identify the problem (I've cc'd them both)...

I have 'test' backed to agoshw2.nightly and had odemount set to mount '-all.'

Note that 'mksb -list' works until I start another DECterm on my workstation.
I have also been able to perform mklinks and build in the test sandbox, but
get the error message 'getwd: getwd: read error in ..' when another DECterm
starts. Even after the error message I can cd to and examine the rc files that
it indicates it cannot parse.

What backingtree is your sandbox 'test' backed to? It appears
that whatever you are backed to is currently not mounted on your system.
I would suggest as su that you do an 'odemount <backingtree>'.
