wendy,
can we get together someday soon to discuss the requirements
of the Pacific Rim countries with regard to their source and
network kit needs as you see them.
A few months back, I talked with the CT GIA network manager. He
had advised that the connections between Acton (GIA HQ) and
Japan and a few other sites, Hong Kong was another, I think,
that the circuits were acceptable for mail. If you started
much more activity than the normal mail traffic, the circuits
would saturate. They told me that they conducted a survey of
the GIA customers (end users) and determined that no engineering
type network resources would be needed, only mail. I advised
I thought their survey was incomplete.
The way it is right now, to add bigger/fatter wires to the Far
East, discussions at the VP level needs to occur. This is a
big $$$ item.
If we can demonstrate the importance of the work being done
there, and how it impacts our deliverables, then we should have
enough to get better connectivity.
Again, lets get together and I'll give you dump.
