396.0. "Shared Sandboxes" by SMURF::FILTER (Automatic Posting Software - mail to flume::puck) Wed Oct 27 1993 16:35

We are planning on using ODE shared sandboxes for our LAT development
for Gold. I need to know everything about shared sandboxes (and am not
afraid to ask!). Also, I'd like to know about any problems encountered,
things to watch out for, administrative tasks, etc.
Thanks for your help.

Gregg

Gregg,

Section 8.4 of the ODE II Developer's User Guide explains setup and use
of a shared sandbox, I suggest you start there. The User Guide is on
line in /usr/sde/docs/dug.ps. The Guide is fairly lengthy, if possible
I would suggest double sided pages or possibly borrowing a copy from
someone who has printed it out already. At zk we have the Guide on
the bookreader shelf possibly that's the case at UNX too?

If you have any question I believe Rich Larsen would be your
primary contact at UNX and a secondary source of help is the odehelp alias.

/Carolyn

Carolyn,

Thanks for your response.

I've looked at Section 8.4 of the ODE II Developer's User Guide and there
isn't a substantial amount of information there (3 1/2 pages). Do you know if
there is any additional info? Any hidden folklore on shared sandboxes that's
not written down? For example, I've heard that you can't submit directly
from a shared sandbox into the submit tree.

Thanks again.

Gregg

Gregg,

Tina Anderson, ODE Development Project Leader, sent me some
suggestions for you which I have attached below. I believe
the document she refers to covers details on how to submit from
a shared sandbox. I would also suggest you review the odeman page on
mksharedsb, that has alot of useful information. And review
Appendix B of the "Silver Supplement for ODE Users" it
is in /usr/sde/osf1/doc/ag-userguide.ps. Even though
the document is somewhat outdated, it still contains
some conventions and information on how Release Engineering
would like you to set up your shared sandbox.

Hi,

What might help him is to get the draft system admin guide.
It is in draft form. But has a section on shared sandboxes.

He can get it from
	slugbt:/kits_public/ode/DECodeII/2.1/pag.ps
