Hi Tom,

I made a sandbox from wasted.zk3.dec.com backed against ag.bl10 and tried to
build ksh for you.

Unfortunately, the make does not work. Here is the error message:

$ build
relative path: ./usr/bin/ksh.
make: illegal option -- c
usage: make [-eiknqrst] [-D variable] [-d flags] [-f makefile ]
        [-I directory] [-j max_jobs] [variable=value]

According to our local ode adm, the cross compiler between MIPS and ALPHA
is broken. It is a known problem. There is no resource to fix the cross
compiler.

Does the people who works on DBX for Genentech see the same problem?
Can you help me find out how to work around this make problem?

Thanks,
Wen-Jie

The cross compiler that we did have was a set of Ultrix executables that
generated Alpha bits. You stated that you had a sandbox on wasted (an
ALPHA/OSF1 machine) trying to build agaist MIPS OSF source - exactly opposite.

Perhaps I am misunderstanding your intent, but I don't believe you will be
able to accomplish what you are attemping given the resources available.

Hi,

Thanks for the information, I will ask Peter Thompson to help me build ksh
under his MIPS workstation. He is able to build DBX for Silver on MIPS.
