Sorry for the inconviences, we had a power shutdown over the
weekend here at ZK and slowly ODE things are getting back to
order, the workon problems you were seeing on Quarry were due
to the fact that agosmaint.bl6 backingtree wasn't mounted. In addition,
yesterday the disk that hold agosmaint.bl6 was bad, it was restored
before noon time, but apparently was not remounted on quarry.
For any of the production machines, if you notice a backingtree is not
mounted you can send mail to [email protected] they can get
it mounted, unfortunately for you that could be a 24 hour wait.
The problem of occasionally not seeing backingtrees mounted on
the production machines should be fixed soon, the zk admin people
are working on adding tools to better support the backingtrees
on production machines.
As for alpha, the problem appears to be that the kerberos ticket
directory (/var/dss/kerberos/tkt) has the wrong permissions on
it, it should be 777 not 766. I will have admin change the permission
for this directory and mount the ODE backingtrees on quarry.
You did the right thing to search down a production machine that
could support your work. But normally you should not see as many
problems as you did this time.

I can't do a workon on system "quarry":
quarry.zk3.dec.com> workon find
cannot find include file ../link/rc_files/shared

I suspect it is because :
quarry.zk3.dec.com> ls /usr/sde/osf1/build/agosmaint.bl6/
/usr/sde/osf1/build/agosmaint.bl6/ not found
What can I do when facing such situation? I tried do an odemount but seems
I don't have such privilege on a production system like "quarry".
I do submits from Hong Kong so I must do it on production systems.
(This time, I tried "alpha" and "flambe". "alpha" gives me an error when doing
kinit :

I'm trying to do a workon in my sandbox but there seems
to be some kind of problem. Here's the result of my
attempts to workon my sandbox.
kcs@letterman> kdestroy
Tickets destroyed.
kcs@letterman> which kinit
/usr/sde/ode3.0/tools/alpha_UNIX/bin/kinit
kcs@letterman> kinit Ken_Settle
Kerberos Initialization for "Ken_Settle"
Password:
kcs@letterman> workon -sb sysmansh
cd'ing to sandbox source directory: /users/kcs/sb/sysmansh/src.
starting new shell: /usr/bin/ksh.
Check: environment $BCSPORT, and ode_server daemon @ secret.zk3.dec.com
Please exit workon, do a kinit and enter workon.
Any ideas? I'm running ntpd.

You could try running "/usr/sde/install/ode install"
Just to ensure that your machine is properly configured for ode3.0.
after that if it still doesn't work, try kinit -d and capture the output. Also
send your $PATH.
