260.0. "Henry_Pau submit in limbo?" by SMURF::FILTER (Automatic Posting Software - mail to flume::puck) Wed Aug 04 1993 19:06

Subj: Henry_Pau submit in limbo?

Note, I'll be out until Monday. Other people on odehelp will have to
pick up the support from this point.

Here is the contents of the "bsubmit.hold" file, showing the files which
Henry is in the middle of submitting.
    : Henry_Pau; Date: 8/3/93; Time: 4:33
    ./usr/bin/Makefile
    ./usr/bin/asa/Makefile
    ./usr/bin/asa/asa.c
    ./usr/bin/asa/asa.msg

Henry, please provide the contents of the following files from your sandbox:

    src/4:33.Henry_Pau
    src/4:33.bcssteps

and the results of the following:

    ls -l ./usr/bin/Makefile ./usr/bin/asa/Makefile \
		./usr/bin/asa/asa.c ./usr/bin/asa/asa.msg

By looking at blog -rHenry_Pau_minor and blog -rAGOSMINOR for all of
these files, it appears that the submit did put your work on the submit
branch for each of the files except for ./usr/bin/asa/Makefile. None
of the files got into the submit tree agosminor yet. None of the files
are locked, either on your private or on the submit branches. The
submit appears to be "stuck" in the phase of checking in, and has not
yet entered in the phase of checking out.

My suspicion is that src/4:33.Henry_Pau contains:
	files already locked
	files already merged
and that src/4:33.bcssteps contains:
    ./usr/bin/Makefile
    ./usr/bin/asa/asa.c
    ./usr/bin/asa/asa.msg

If the files are not all present in your sandbox, do
	bco -u -all

and then retry the "bsubmit -resub 4:33 -date 8/3/93".

Oddly, the bsubmit.log does contain an entry (attached), which is in
part corrupt; it lists files not even in the set; my guess is that this
is a log of the submit of ONLY cal/cal.c, which was successfully
submitted, and that somehow the longer description picked up info from
the asa files' logs. This error is very strange; you should try to
remember as much about what happened during the cal.c submit when the
log was being created and report this as a bug with gen-ptt.

Hi,

Henry Pau is based in Hong Kong and tried to submit the asa command into
BL5. asa is a new command needed for xpg4. When Henry submitted the
code he got an error on the submit and was told to do a resub.

He tried that and it failed again. The hold log lists the asa files
but the bsubmit.log files also lists the files as being submitted(or
at least it seems that way).

The asa command should be under /usr/bin but is not there in the
submit tree. The files seem to be in the RCS tree.

What do we do about this?

Henry's address is [email protected]. Replies to his return
address don not always resolve correctly. Thanks.

Tony

The files are all not in my sandbox, so I did as told. But I got :

quarry.zk3.dec.com> bco -u -all

[ ./usr/bin/Makefile ]
[ ./usr/bin/Makefile Rev 4.3.22.2 checked out unlocked ]

[ ./usr/bin/asa/Makefile ]
[ ./usr/bin/asa/Makefile Rev 1.1.1.2 checked out unlocked ]

[ ./usr/bin/asa/asa.c ]
[ ./usr/bin/asa/asa.c Rev 1.1.1.2 checked out unlocked ]

[ ./usr/bin/asa/asa.msg ]
[ ./usr/bin/asa/asa.msg Rev 1.1.1.2 checked out unlocked ]

[ ./usr/bin/ex/ex.c ]
[ ./usr/bin/ex/ex.c Rev 4.3.9.1 checked out unlocked ]
quarry.zk3.dec.com> bsubmit -resub 4:33 -date 8/3/93
Enter the defect number this submission applies to: agosminor-787-henrypau

>> FATAL ERROR in /usr/sde/tools/alpha_ace/bin/ode/bsubmit:
>> You are prevented from submitting to: /usr/sde/osf1/build/agosminor.
>> No entry in submit or sadmin access lists.

Is it the pool already closed? How can I continue my submit at this point?

Sorry that I did the "bco -u -all" first so this "ls" listing may be
irrelevant now:

I remember I tried to resubmit the asa several times but failed. Then, I
exit the workon session and go to workon cal. The submission went smoothly.
And then, I did several other submits and they all went fine.

  Thanks for the help.
