Someone reported this error during the submission of a large

What was bsubmit trying to do in this instance?

kxct: opentemp failed: File exists
client read failed2: Error 0
didn't receive temporary file

- No work has been done for this submission.
- No files have been changed in any way.

hi rich,

> kxct: opentemp failed: File exists

is from the kxctd daemon on ODE server side

> client read failed2: Error 0
> didn't receive temporary file

is from the ODE client side

aside from this, i can't tell you much. the kxctd is the point of
entry for all client requests to the server. bsubmit being one
of the clients. there are numerous data transfers that happen
between the client and the server where a temporary file is needed.
without the output from a bsubmit -debug with AUTHCOVER_DEBUG set,
i couldn't tell you what bsubmit is doing at this particular instance.

judging from the rest of the message, the submit did not go
through. were there any other error messages that came from bsubmit?

An outside contractor (Locus Computing) is using ODE V2.0 to develop
software which will be integrated in our product at some future date.
They are running ODE V2.0 less any patches. They have just upgraded
from V1.5. They report an error when trying to execute bsubmit
The error is:
		kxct command copyfile not found.

Any help would greatly appreciate

I suggest he rerun the bsubmit with AUTHCOVER_DEBUG=1
and mail the output to you,
then we can pinpoint where the problem is.

Rich, if Locus is upgrading from 1.5 to 2.0, I strongly recommend that
they only do so with all of the supported version 2.0 release and upgrade
documentation. This information is fully covered in the installation
and upgrade release notes for ODE v2.0. There are undoubtably more things
they will bump into if they just try to do this upgrade "in the dark".

I'm trying to bsubmit to my shared sandbox. I was able to bci the files
but I get the following when I do a bsubmit:

bsubmit -all

*** No user interaction will be required during the merge step. ***

*** VALIDATION FAILURE ***

./kernel/atm/cmm/cmm.h -- not in set.
./kernel/atm/cmm/cmm_adi.c -- not in set.
./kernel/atm/cmm/cmm_cmi.c -- not in set.
./kernel/atm/cmm/cmm_manage.c -- not in set.
./kernel/atm/cmm/cmm_ppa.c -- not in set.
./kernel/atm/cmm/cmm_smi.c -- not in set.
./kernel/atm/sys/atm_cmi.h -- not in set.

Consult the bsubmit reference page for suggested corrective actions.

Please take appropriate steps and run bsubmit again.
- No work has been done for this submission.
- No files have been changed in any way.
- The files in this submission are not held.
- The use of the -resub option is not required and will not be recognized.

First, what does this mean (it's in the set, or how would -all be finding
the file names), and second, how do I fix it so I can submit?

Thanks,

Pete, since ODE's complained that none of your files are in
your current set, maybe you're in the wrong set, or it's
confused about the setname. In general the syntax is:
	workon -sb sandbox_name set_name

If "-sb sandbox_name" is left off it uses your default sandbox;
if set_name is left off then it defaults to the sandbox_name.

ODE then constructs the full set name from your principal
name and set_name; if your sandbox is old (pre ode v2) then
it uses your username_setname, and sometimes mixing old and
new formats can get it confused.

The command "currentsb" will echo the sandboxname and full
setname; confirm that this is what you expect; then look for
the file src/.BCSset-full_set_name in your sandbox.

You can also look at rc_files/sets to see if there are any
suspicious looking entries. If there are no inconsistencies,
run the bsubmit again but with -verbose and -debug, and send
that output to odehelp.

The output of "ode -verbose -debug -all" is attached.

130.8bsubmit error messageSMURF::FILTERAutomatic Posting Software - mail to flume::puckTue Oct 18 1994 17:4648

Hi.

I am attempting a bsubmit of the file ./clients/xterm/charproc.c
from sandbox "hpaq635d0_v20", which is backed by v20supportx.nightly,
and get the following error message:

*** VALIDATION FAILURE ***

./clients/xterm/charproc.c -- not in set.

I believe the problem may stem from the fact that this is
an older sandbox, and I think I had a different Principal
name when it was set up. My current PRINCIPAL is Charlie_Franks,
but I believe it used to be Charles_Franks. The file,
rc_files/sets shows the following:

	default Charles_Franks_hpaq635d0_v20
	set Charles_Franks_hpa1635d0_v20 .

The .BCS files in /src were named:

.BCSlog-Charlie_Franks_Charles_Franks_hpaq635d0_v20
.BCSset-Charlie_Franks_Charles_Franks_hpaq635d0_v20

(I thought it odd the name had both Charlie and Charles)

and the .BCSset file did contain the expected file I was attempting
to bsubmit:

.clients/xterm/charproc.c

So, assuming I had screwed things up by changing my Principal between
the time the sandbox was created and the time I did my srequest, I
tried renaming the .BCSlog and .BCSset files to remove the "Charles_Franks"
part, and tried changing the rc_files/sets file to contain "Charlie_Franks"
in place of "Charles_Franks", but I still get the error message.

Any ideas how I can fix this mess up?

Thanks,
Charlie

Hi,

I'm attempting a bsubmit from a sandbox backed by v30supportos.nightly,
and get the error message:

"cannot find include file ../link/rc_files/shared.sharedsandbox"

However, an ls -l shows the file is there, and I can cat it.

I tried remounting v30supportos.nightly with odemount, but that didn't
make any difference.

I tried a resb of the sandbox to v30supportos.nightly, again no change.

I looked in www and it said v30supportos.nightly wasn't in the middle
of a build or anything.

Below is a copy of the session where my bsubmit got the error. Any ideas
on what else I should try?

Make sure that you have the v30supportos submit tree mounted. You
can do an "odemount v30supportos". This is the link that bsubmit is
trying to access.

John,

That did it. I thought v30supportos got odemounted automagically
when I odemounted v30supportos.nightly. Guess not.

Thanks a lot.
