I'm trying to access the agosmaint.bl4 and agxmaint.bl4 areas.

odemount thinks I have them mounted correctly; -list shows them as
follows:

Mounted    agosmaint.bl4:         silver maint BL4
Mounted    agxmaint.bl4:          silver maint x11 BL4

Looking in /usr/sde/osf1/build for *.bl4 we can see that these have the
following "home" locations (by following the links):

lrwxr-xr-x   1 root     staff         35 May 19 14:13 agosmaint.bl4 ->
  ../../disks/agos.dsk4/agosmaint.bl4
lrwxr-xr-x   1 root     staff         38 May 19 14:14 agxmaint.bl4 ->
  ../../disks/agxmaint.dsk2/agxmaint.bl4

In fact, I've "cheated" by directly mounting the mount points in my
/etc/fstab as follows:

bigbld:/usr/sde/disks/agos.dsk4  /usr/sde/disks/agos.dsk4  nfs ro,bg 0 0
lastout:/usr/sde/disks/agxmaint.dsk2  /usr/sde/disks/agxmaint.dsk2  nfs ro,bg 0 0

However, when I try to follow the path to the files, I can't get there.

I get as far as /usr/sde/disks/agos.dsk4 (or agxmaint.dsk2), but when I
look for agosmaint.bl4 (or agxmaint.bl4) it's symbolically linked to a
mount point that I don't have mounted (and that, as far as I can see, I
will not get mounted for me by odemount):

agosmaint.bl4 -> /nfs/bigbld/usr/sde/disks/agos.dsk4/agosmaint.bl4
 agxmaint.bl4 -> /nfs/lastout/usr/sde/disks/agxmaint.dsk2/agxmaint.bl4

When I try to access this on flume (for instance), it looks like there is
a circular symbolic link definition:

flume[123]> cd /nfs/bigbld/usr/sde/disks/agos.dsk4/agosmaint.bl4
/nfs/bigbld/usr/sde/disks/agos.dsk4/agosmaint.bl4: Too many levels of symbolic links

Is it me, or is something screwed up here?

Tom

There is no agosmaint.bl4 yet. It is still being debugged by the maintenance
team. There is a placeholder out there which is essentially empty. We are
still taking fixes into the tree to fix some install problems with the kit.
I suspect that BL4 will be announced sometime in the next few days.

You can contact either Joe Kenny or Jim Campbell for an exact date.

I want to throw in a "metoo" on this. I run into this kind of situation
fairly frequently, but it's always too hard to tell what changed. It
frustrates use of automounter, it seems to confound odemount, but is
something that I usually find a way to workaround.

Thanks, John. Having the placeholder be a symbolic link that points to
itself (circular reference) is what was creating confusion on my part.

I checked with Joe/Jim and am up to date on the status.

Thanks.

I issued the following two attempts to bsubmit against ptacde.nightly:
[themas: (masinick) mas_cde(polish)] bsubmit -l -noauto-out -all -m "Fix Corrupt Polish localizations" -defect ptacde-32-masinick
Error: You are trying to submit to project 'ptcde'.

        Your defect number is incorrect for this project.

        Please check your defect number and make sure your
        sandbox is backed by the correct project.

Why does it think that I'm using ptcde?!!! I definitely do NOT want
ptcde, I want ptacde.nightly. sbinfo indicates that my default_build:
ptacde, check_out_config: PTCDE;PTCDE_BL12;include
/usr/sde/osf1/build/ptacde.nightly/CONFIG, tools_path:
/usr/sde/osf1/build/ptacde.nightly/tools/alpha_osf1/cc/usr/bin:/usr/sde/ode3.0/tools/alpha_ace/bin

So what gives?

As the ptacde BL4 window is closing, this has to be resolved quickly.

Thanks,
