Hello,
We don't have the srequest tool available at the PKO remote
sight and would very much like to, what is involved in setting
it up?
I realize that srequest in not an ode tool but since it must
be invoked from a workon session, maybe someone here could point
me off in the right direction.
Thanks,
-Ron

Ron,
I can help you with this. As a matter of fact I'm releasing a new
version ASAP and am currently working on coordinating New Jersey
for the new drop. So I guess you should be involved also. : )
Great timing !
I will get back to you shortly, once I hear from New Jersey.
Possibly a drop tonight. Will that be ok ?

Jay is trying to use srequest, and getting
srequest server is down
I deleted everything under /usr/sde/ode2.0 this morning and installed
from a tar file ode2.2tools to soak. Then I manually put back srequest.
I'm looking at the script, to see if there is something more that
I need to put back. Not sure at this point.

Either you are using an old version of CDE, or you logged in as someone else
and set USER to frank somehow. srequest makes a getlogin call to see what user
the kernel thinks you are. Clearly it's not returning frank.
What OS/desktop/shell are you running?

Press the return key to edit the list of files for this submit request:

It brings up the window to edit the list of files, but then srequest exits.
Any ideas?

I'm seeing the same error when I try to launch emacs out of a sh shell.
Try using csh or ksh, and I bet the problem goes away.
If it does, please QAR it against sh.

I issued an srequest and was ask to make a few changes to the source files.
I bco'ed, made the changes and bci'ed the files. Then I issued and srequest -update.
The update did not recognize or prompt me for the new revisions. Eventually I
decided to cancel the srequest and do a new srequest. Is this the correct course
of action or is there a better way?
Also, could you explain to me how an srequest and a bsubmit are related. Specifically,
Do the revisions specified in the srequest get tied to the bsubmit? and if so then why
is it necessary to specify the filenames for bsubmit?
Thank you,
-David Akers

David,
There is no automatic process for srequest to update your bstat and bdiff
information in the old srequest tool. The current process for updating the
form with current bstat and bdiff text is to do a 'bstat >x.bstat 2>&1' and
a 'bdiff >x.bdiff 2>&1' and then replace that section in the form when you
are in the editor.
The new srequest will do this automatically and you will only have to update
other sections of the form that need it.
Srequest is a separate process for code review and content only. It uses
ode commands to collect up some of the information that is put into the form
and generates its own srequest-defect-id. This defect-id is used only to try
and catch bsubmits going into the wrong submit tree.
If you create a unique sandbox for each element of your work you can do a
bsubmit -all and not specify any filenames.
